LiMPETS Introduction to Sandy Beach Monitoring
When: Saturday, October 25, 2008 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Where: Sanctuary Office and Ocean Beach, San Francisco, CA
Get involved in this exciting science education program for students. Participants receive a Monitoring Handbook and are trained to survey the distribution and abundance of the Pacific mole crab (Emerita analoga) at one of many monitoring sites along the coast of California.
LiMPETS Introduction to Rocky Intertidal Monitoring
When: Saturday, February 21, 2009 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Where: Point Montara Lighthouse and Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, San Mateo County, CA
Learn to participate in this in-depth science education program for students. Participants receive a Monitoring Handbook, learn to correctly identify algae and invertebrates, and practice the monitoring methods used in the field.
Feeling the Heat: Thermal Biology and Responses to Climate Change
with Dr. Jonathon Stillman
When: Saturday, March 21, 2009 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Where: Sanctuary Office, San Francisco, CA
Hear about Dr. Stillman's research on climate change and the physiological responses of rocky intertidal crabs and lagoon corals to thermal fluctuations and extremes.
Life & Death, Love & Sex, Drama in the Intertidal Zone
